Cape Cruiser

Do you enjoy the creature comforts offered by towing, but still have a lust for adventure? Then follow us on our Cape Cruiser Tag Along tour as we venture to the very best of Cape York.

About

Departing Cairns, we venture north up Captain Cook Hi-way into the ancient Rainforest of the Daintree before sinking our teeth into the infamous CREB Track! Rest assured we’ll show you all the CREB’s hidden gems (Weather and track condition permitting. Bloomfield Track is our Alternate).

Passing by the Lions Den Hotel we’ll carry onto Cooktown and immerse ourselves in the town's rich Indigenous and European history.

Continuing north we make tracks for Cape Flattery (pending seasonal openings). Exploring the huge silica sand dunes and trying our luck at some beach fishing are Flattery must do’s!

With Lakefield National Park in our sights we explore Battle Camp Road and go off the beaten track to experience some spectacular Indigenous Rock Art with a local guide.

Venturing North we check out ‘The Laura’s’ and a few secret Barra Honey holes situated within Lakefield National Park before making our way into the remote Aboriginal Lands of Lama Lama. We camp beachside overlooking Princess Charlotte Bay.

From here we’ll turn our tyres north and pass through Coen and onto Archer River. Leaving the Peninsula Development Road (PDR) behind us, we venture to Portland Roads, Chile Beach and Lockhart River. Observing wartime history is the flavour around these parts.

Departing the east coast we lock the hubs, engage 4x4 and tackle the Frenchman’s Track (via an alternate trailer friendly route) before making our way west to Weipa. Whilst in Weipa we engage in a mine tour and Eco cruise - both a must do when visiting the western side of the Cape! (Fishing Charters are also available at your own cost)

We set off from Weipa with the Old Tele Track (OTT) in our sights! Arriving at Bramwell Junction we park up the trailers, re-lock the hubs, engage 4x4 and hit the Tele! Known for its pristine swimming holes and epic 4x4ing the OTT is our trip favourite!

We have the ability to explore the southern section of the Tele via day trip - returning to base camp at Bramwell. Then travel north along the Bamaga Road and re enter the Tele at the northern section, Camping at Twin/Elliot Falls.

Alternatively and pending track conditions we can tow though the entirety of the track (utilising ‘chicken tracks’ along the way).

This journey takes us all the way north to the Jardine River crossing - where we board the ferry for the short crossing.

Now we’re in the True North! Only a stone's throw from the Australian Mainland's Northernmost point - Cape York! We venture to Punsand Bay, exploring Bamaga and Seisia along the way! Now it's Cape time! We drive the dense rainforest track from Punsand Bay to the Tip of Australia! As we return from the Tip we venture out to 5 beaches and the Somerset region!

We then return south and make base camp at Loyalty Beach while watching the sun set over the Arafura Sea and Gulf of Carpentaria. The following day we embark on a journey to Thursday Island where we immerse ourselves in its rich island culture as we tour the island with a local guide.

After a fantastic 15 days exploring Cape York it's here we bid farewell and wish our fellow travellers all the best.
