Oombi Epic

Are you looking for the absolute pinnacle of adventure, breathtaking scenery and remote touring? Then our Oombi Epic Tag Along Tour has you covered! Along the tour you’ll get the chance to tackle the Kimberley’s most iconic and remote track, The Oombulgurri Track (formally Carson River Track) whilst rubbing shoulders with well known traditional owners as they guide us through their piece of paradise!

About

Departing Kununurra we begin our journey west passing over Ivanhoe Crossing in pursuit of Black Rock Falls and Secret Springs.  Along the way we venture to Wyndham and meet our traditional owners Ronny or Colin - who’ll be guiding us though their home lands of Oombulgurri! We tackle the Kurunjie Track touring past the awe inspiring Cockburn ranges before arriving at Home Valley Station - the starting point of the Oombulgurri Track. For the next 9 days we’ll traverse the ever changing landscapes of Oombi! Oombi literally has it all! You’ll be tested from the get go as you drive deep river crossings, rocky escarpment tracks, wet season floodplains and sandy creek beds. You’ll be immersed in Indigenous culture and explore the country's most remote rivers, gorges and waterfalls! Set foot where only a handful of white folk have walked before!  We venture past the Durak River, Camera Pool and then into Oombulgurri.

From here we tackle the uncharted, driving a track which see’s only a few cars per season! Along the way we’ll pass by the Berkeley River and Oomari before we detour to the Kimberley’s most amazing landmark - King George Falls!  We carry on past the Drysdale River, concluding the Oombulgurri Track as we pass through Carson River Station. We venture north past the remote community of Kalumburu as we make tracks for Honey Moon Bay. It’s here we farewell our amazing Oombi hosts Ronny or Colin. Here we’ll unwind and reminisce over our last adventure. Optional fishing charters and cultural tours are available during our stay at Honey Moon Bay.

After restocking in Kalumburu we travel south west along Port Warrender road and explore Mitchell River National Park including Mitchell Falls and Mertens Falls. Don a headset and jump aboard an optional scenic helicopter flight over this epic Kimberley region.

With our adventure coming to a close, we begin our south bound journey to Drysdale River Station. It’s here we pull up for our final camp of the tour before farewelling our travellers the following morning.
