About

Departing Cairns we track west to one of mother nature's true marvels - the Undara Lava Tubes. After our guided tour of the tubes we carry onto Cobbold Gorge. A true gem in the harsh surrounding gulf country. 

With itchy feet we continue west along the Savannah way passing by George town, Croydon and Normanton exploring the rich history of each outback town. Rolling into Karumba we hit the water and witness Australia’s best sunset, kicked back watching wildlife cruise on by.

From Karumba we begin our adventure into the true heart of the gulf! Passing by Burketown - QLD’s Barra capital we try our luck at catching the elusive fish, before continuing south to explore Gregory, Adels grove and Boodjamulla (Lawn Hill) National Park. 

It’s time to engage 4x4 and hit the dirt for a while. Continuing along the savannah way with dirt beneath our tyres we cross into the Northern Territory, bound for our stop over on a remote top end cattle station! Experience ringing in the top end and try your luck for another Barra on the banks of the Robinson river. Passing though Borroloola we have a chance to restock supplies before continuing into the uncharted. We follow the Savannah way through Limmen National park and pass by the ore inspiring Lost city and Butterfly Falls before making tracks for Ngukurr. We will spend a night and experience Ngukurr’s amazing Indigenous culture. 

Venturing west we meet the Stuart Highway and explore the historic town of Mataranka where we experience its natural wonders and relax alongside the well known Mataranka thermal pool. 

As we continue north we pick up the Central Arnhem Road which we’ll travel on all the way to Gove Peninsula. Now we’re in the true north! We spend time exploring untouched beaches, remote camps and the Nhulunbuy township. 

After our Arnhem Land experience we return south and conclude our trip just outside Katherine.
